CodeBot (“the App”) is a mobile code editor and compiler. We respect your privacy and handle data responsibly. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how we protect it.

Summary

• We collect your email address to create an account, send a verification email, and operate the App.
• We store a password hash (never the plaintext password).
• Your code, inputs, and console output are processed on our servers to provide compilation/execution.
• We do not use third-party advertising SDKs or cross-app tracking.

Data We Collect

• Account Data: email address, password hash, account status (e.g., verified), and basic settings/preferences.
• Content You Provide: source code, input data (stdin/args), and console output needed to run your jobs on our servers. If you choose to save projects/snippets in the cloud, we store those until you delete them.
• Service Logs (limited): timestamps, IP address, and user agent collected by our servers for security, abuse prevention, and to operate the service.
• Diagnostics (optional): crash or performance data if you opt in via OS settings.

How We Use Data (Purposes)

• Account & Authentication: create and manage your account, send verification and essential service emails.
• Service Delivery: compile/run your code on our servers and return results; store projects/snippets if you choose.
• Security & Abuse Prevention: detect spam/misuse, protect our infrastructure.
• Support & Diagnostics: investigate crashes/incidents and improve reliability.
• Legal Compliance: meet legal obligations and enforce our terms.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We may share data with service providers that help us host servers, send email, and operate the App (e.g., cloud hosting, email delivery). These providers process data on our behalf under contractual safeguards.

Where Processing Happens

Server-side processing and storage are performed on infrastructure we control or contract (e.g., cloud data centers). Depending on your location, data may be transferred to and processed in other countries in which we or our providers operate, with appropriate safeguards.

Retention

• Account data is kept while your account is active and then deleted or irreversibly anonymized within a reasonable period after deletion.
• Execution artifacts (code, input, console output used to run jobs) are retained only as long as needed to deliver results and ensure service integrity (e.g., short-term caching and security logs). Saved projects/snippets remain until you delete them.
• Security/diagnostic logs may be retained for a limited period to investigate and prevent abuse.

Security

We apply industry-standard measures including encryption in transit (TLS), hashing of passwords (never stored in plaintext), access controls, and monitoring. No system can be 100% secure, but we work to protect your data.

Your Choices & Rights

• Access, update, or delete your account and saved projects from within the App or by contacting us.
• Opt out of diagnostics via your device OS settings.
• If you are in a region with data protection rights (e.g., EU/UK/California), you may have additional rights such as access, correction, deletion, and portability. Contact us to exercise these rights.

Children’s Privacy

The App is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under the age where parental consent is required by local law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from such children.

Emails We Send

We send essential service emails such as verification, password reset, and critical account notices. We do not send marketing emails without your consent.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy to reflect improvements or legal requirements. We will post the new effective date at the top of this page.
